Cayetano Heredia Welcomes Students from Universities Around the World

NUMERO-1-1

Students from more than ten countries have chosen Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia to broaden their academic perspectives and experience university life in Peru. More than 30 have already begun their academic experience during the 2026-II semester, and over 100 students are expected to join the Cayetano Heredia community throughout this period.

Their home institutions include Johns Hopkins University, Durham University, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, NOVA Medical School, Università degli Studi di Verona, and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, as well as universities in Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Italy, and Belgium. Their arrival strengthens academic and cultural exchange and creates new opportunities for collaboration among students and faculty from different countries.

The visiting students will join the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, Psychology, and Sciences, where they will take part in classes, practical training, and academic projects. For some students, the experience will also include clinical rotations at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine, where they will gain first-hand insight into the challenges and diverse realities of healthcare in Peru while complementing their education through specialized research and practical training.

The exchange experience will also extend beyond the classroom. Interaction with Peruvian students and exposure to different realities across the country will allow visiting students to broaden both their professional and cultural perspectives, while the Cayetano Heredia community benefits from new experiences, viewpoints, and knowledge.

The Incoming Welcome Ceremony was attended by Cayetano Heredia’s Rector, Dr. Wilfredo Gonzáles Lozada; Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Víctor Carrasco Cortez; and Vice-Rector for Research, Dr. Mirko Zimić Peralta, as well as deans, university authorities, and representatives from the different schools. Ana Danko, a student from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, shared her experience as a member of the Cayetano Heredia community.

The arrival of students from around the world reflects Cayetano Heredia’s international reach and its commitment to an educational experience that brings together academic excellence, research, and intercultural exchange. In this way, Cayetano Heredia connects global knowledge with the realities of Peru.
