Cayetano Heredia and ASCRS join forces to strengthen our educational programmes in colorectal surgery

At Cayetano Heredia, we continue to strengthen our international standing through strategic partnerships with institutions of high academic and scientific calibre. In this context, the recent visit of representatives from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) offers a key opportunity to consolidate ties in the field of colorectal surgery and to expand our global reach.
The ASCRS is an international professional society dedicated to the advancement of colorectal surgery, with a focus on improving digestive health. Its work includes the continuous training of specialised surgeons, ensuring excellence in the treatment of colon and rectal diseases. In line with these objectives, we aim to establish a formal and strategic agreement that will enhance our educational and research programmes in this speciality, ensuring high-quality training for professionals in the field.
The visiting delegation included Dr Najjia Mahmoud, Dr Kirsten Wilkins, Dr Kelly M. Tyler, Dr Jed Calata, and Dr Hernán Sánchez. They were welcomed by our university’s representatives: the President, Dr Enrique Castañeda; Dr Félix Medina, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr Gaby Yamamoto, Head of the Department of Surgery at Cayetano Heredia Hospital; and Mr Francesco Mencaroni, Director of the University Office for Institutional Relations and Internationalisation (DURIN).
At Cayetano Heredia, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation and scientific development, driving initiatives that strengthen the training of our professionals and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the health sector.
