Making alliances with Cayetano

Agreements are the backbone of the relationship between UPCH and other institutions, including academic institutions, government offices, companies, and NGOs. They come in three types: framework or general agreements, specific agreements, and addenda.

In general, framework agreements are the first contact between UPCH and the institution involved, and generally are the basis for establishing specific agreements. Specific agreements provide for exchange programs, bilateral projects, training programs, and technology transfer. Addenda are modifications to the agreements.

If you are interested in pursuing an agreement with UPCH, please consider the following:

  1. The objective or purpose of the agreement. Agreements are signed between institutions because of a common interest or aim, for example, student exchange programs, joint research projects, capacity-building programs, knowledge or technological transfers, and much more.
  2. Your main collaborator or partner at UPCH. Your primary contact at Cayetano will advocate for your specific agreement, and more importantly, be the main collaborator for the joint project or program that results from your agreement.
  3. Existing agreements. Please make sure that your institution does not have an existing agreement with UPCH.

If your institution had an agreement with UPCH which expired, please email us at durin@oficinas-upch.pe with the name of the agreement, date of expiration, and reason for renewal (eg. joint training program in tissue engineering).

Once you’re addressed these three basic issues, you can consider using one of our existing templates or consult your institution for an example. Our Office recommends sending two agreements: general agreement to establish an official relationship between institutions, and specific agreement to determine the terms for your specific project or program.

How to make an agreement?

The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia establishes cooperation and reciprocity links with different national and international institutions and companies. For this, the Institutional Relations and Internationalization Office (DURIN) coordinates the signing of agreements, which allow and support the planning, implementation and evaluation of academic, scientific and other activities of mutual interest.

These strategic alliances reinforce the integral formation of our students and the profesional development of our professors, researchers and administrators; in short, they contribute to the growth of the entire institution.

The types of agreements that UPCH usually handles through DURIN are:

  • Memorandum of Understanding
  • Specific academic exchange agreements (mobility)
  • Specific agreements according to research projects

DURIN has models in Spanish and English to sign these agreements, or can work with the model provided by a counterpart. Contact us at durin@oficinas-upch.pe or you can see How to process an agreement for more details.

How to process an agreement?

DURIN facilitates that different units of UPCH establish agreements with public and private institutions and companies inside and outside the country.

It is important that the interested unit identifies one of its members to act as «agreement manager».

If the agreement manager prefers, DURIN will gladly collaborate in the elaboration of the agreement, actively participating in conversations between the manager and the counterpart to reach common agreements that will be the clauses of the agreement.

1

DURIN sends the consolidated agreements to the Rectorate and the General secretary’s office on Thursdays of the week prior to the week of the Council session (CS). The agreements are presented in their final version. To be considered in the agenda of the session.

1

2

The agreements must reach DURIN by 9:00 a.m. on the Thursday prior to the council session; those of the faculties must be accompanied by a letter of approval from the IFC (integrated faculty council).

2

3

Within a maximum of seven (7) calendar days after the CS, the General secretary’s office sends to DURIN the letter of approval of the agreements submitted.

3

4

With this approval letter, DURIN manages the signature of the Rector or legal representative of the UPCH and sends the signed agreement to the manager of the agreement to manage the signature of the counterpart.

The legal representative (or person authorized to sign) of the counterpart must have authorization to carry out this type of action.

4

5

The manager of the agreement returns it to DURIN signed by the counterpart, so that it can be filed and registered among the agreements in force.

5

IMPORTANT:
Once the agreement passes through the University Council, it cannot be modified in content, or in signing authorities.
An agreement may be signed by deans or vice-deans as long as these signatures are accompanied by the signature of the Rector, Vice-rector or Legal Representative.

Inernational Agreements

The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia has different international agreements with different institutions around the world, these allow us to strengthen internationalization through the development of activities that promote academic and scientific cooperation inside and outside the country.

To manage an agreement between UPCH and another institution, you must be clear about these aspects:

  • The objective or purpose of the agreement;
  • who will be the main collaborator of the counterpart;
  • If there are previous agreements. For this, our current agreements are available in the following link:
