On Health Day at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the Cayetano Heredia delegation participated in the Lounge of the Belém Health Action Plan, contributing to global discussions that integrate health, climate, and sustainable development.

The team of Heredian researchers is composed of Dr. Stella Hartinger, Dr. Armando Valdés, M.A. Camila Llerena, and M.A. Luciana Blanco, who are also members of the Lancet Countdown Latin America and the Latin American Center of Excellence in Climate Change and Health (CLIMA) at Cayetano Heredia.

During this session—one of the most significant at COP30—the discussions focused on the need to strengthen health systems to make them more resilient to the impacts of climate change and its growing implications for the most vulnerable populations.

Brazil’s Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, referenced in his speech the findings of the Lancet Countdown Latin America report, emphasizing that climate change is already profoundly affecting communities and people’s health worldwide.

COP30 will run until November 21 in the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, Brazil. From Cayetano Heredia, our team reaffirms its commitment to leading the generation of scientific knowledge that drives global action in favor of health and planetary sustainability.
