At Cayetano Heredia University, we reaffirm our commitment to internationalisation and collaborative work among institutions of excellence. On Monday, 16 June, we welcomed a delegation from North-West University (South Africa) in a day dedicated to sharing experiences, exploring opportunities for cooperation, and strengthening ties with a leading university in its region.

During the meeting, both institutions delivered institutional presentations to highlight their academic strengths, priority research areas, and internationalisation strategies. The South African delegation, composed of 15 representatives, was led by Prof Mzubanzi Bismark Tyobeka, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of North-West University. Representing our university were Dr Enrique Castañeda, Rector; Dr Carlos Cáceres, Vice-Rector for Research; Mag. Francesco Mencaroni, Director of International Relations; Dr Cristina Guerra, Director of the University Consortium; and the Deans, Dr Pedro Saona, Dr Wilfredo Gonzales, and Dr Carlos López.

One of the most significant moments of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which lays a formal foundation for the development of joint initiatives in research, academic mobility, professional training, and institutional development. As part of the campus tour, the visiting delegation explored the Learning Resource Centre (CREA), the Medical Faculty Simulation Centre, and the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology, Neurodegeneration, and Zebrafish, where they witnessed firsthand the innovative work driven by our academic community.

This visit marks an important step in our internationalisation agenda and in the strengthening of global networks that foster shared knowledge, scientific development, and the training of professionals committed to addressing health and societal challenges worldwide.
