ENCayetano Heredia ranked the best university in Peru in the THE Latin America University Rankings 2026
The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia achieved first place nationally in the THE Latin America University Rankings 2026, standing out among 11 Peruvian universities evaluated. This recognition reaffirms Cayetano’s commitment to academic excellence and impactful research.
The ranking evaluated 223 institutions from 16 Latin American countries, representing growth compared to the previous edition. To participate, universities must meet demanding criteria: offer active undergraduate programs, produce at least 200 scientific publications in the last five years (2020–2024), demonstrate diversity in research areas, and submit institutional data to Times Higher Education (THE).
In the Research Environment pillar, the university demonstrated strong performance, reflecting sustained high-impact scientific output. Similarly, the Research Quality pillar highlights significant progress in knowledge generation, helping identify both challenges and opportunities to further strengthen research capabilities and improve research management.
In Teaching, the results show the strengthening of Cayetano’s academic quality and training capacities. The International Outlook pillar confirms the global projection of the university’s academic community through international networks and collaborations. Finally, the Industry pillar shows notable progress, reaffirming the institutional commitment to knowledge transfer and the development of solutions to address societal challenges.
It is important to note that this year’s publication is titled Latin America University Rankings 2026 because it uses data from the THE World University Rankings 2026. For the Cayetano community, this achievement is a source of great pride and, at the same time, a motivation to continue building a better future for Peru through science and education.
