On January 17th, we welcomed distinguished representatives from the Hubert-Yeargan Center for Global Health (HYC) at Duke University, where we discussed new collaboration opportunities within the Global Health Pathway Programme, medical rotations at Duke’s campuses in Singapore, Kenya, and Kunshan, as well as the development of joint undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes in global health.

This meeting highlighted the importance of multiculturalism and interdisciplinarity in addressing global health, allowing for the integration of diverse perspectives and experiences to strengthen our professional training and research activities and projects.

The delegation, composed of Dr Chris Woods, Dr Rebecca Lumsden, Dr Ernesto Ortiz García, and Dr Sofía Zavala Monzón, met with our President, Dr Enrique Castañeda; the Head of the Department of Public Health, Dr Ruth Iguiñiz; the Director of the University Office for Institutional Relations and Internationalisation (DURIN), Mr Francesco Mencaroni; and the Associate Researcher at CRONICAS Centre of Excellence in Chronic Diseases, Dr María Lazo.

This meeting promises great results and a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both institutions and contribute to improving global health.

About the Global Health Pathway

In 2008, the HYC and the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) launched the Global Health Pathway, a programme designed to develop academic leaders in global health who work to reduce health inequalities. During this programme, participants receive training at the master’s level and can obtain a Master of Science in Global Health (MSc-GH), in addition to developing specific research and receiving close mentorship to develop their careers in global health.
